Cruises to Canada and New England offer natural beauty, history and the culture and excitement of big cities such as Boston and Quebec City.
Canada/New England cruises are most popular in September and October when the leaves change color. These are often referred to as "Fall Foliage Cruises." In order to meet the demand, the cruise lines base additional ships in this area each Fall. It is also a convenient place for ships to spend these months - - the prime European season has ended and the Caribbean hurricane season is still ongoing. |
Because the schools are open during this period, the Fall Foliage cruises tend to attract mature passengers with few children.
But cruising to Canada and New England is also a summertime activity. The cool maritime weather provides a great relief from summer heat, the air is fresh and the countryside is green. The big cities are alive with summer activities. Since the schools are on vacation, you see more children and young families on these cruises. Young people are particularly prevalent on the short cruises from New York or Boston to St. John and Halifax. |
