Mahogany Beach is an 825 foot-long stretch of white sand beach. Lapping against it clear, light blue water. In addition to this attractive beach, the resort has palm trees and man-made facilities designed to make it a Caribbean paradise. Access to the beach area is limited to cruise passengers by security personnel who check to see if the person seeking entry has a cruise ship key card.
GETTING TO THE BEACH
The beach resort is not far from where the cruise ships dock. However, it is located on a separate island. Consequently, two means of getting to the island have been developed. The first means is more often seen at ski resorts than at a Caribbean resort - - a chair lift. Guests board at the shopping plaza and are lifted over the trees and the inlet that separates the beach island from the rest of the resort. They land at the near end of the beach. Guests can pay by the ride or obtain an all day pass. The other means of getting to the beach is to walk. There is a paved trail that takes guests to a bridge over the inlet. (Alternatively, there is an unpaved nature trail that winds in among the trees that features some nice views. It also connects with the bridge). There is no charge to walk.
AT THE BEACH
The sandy area behind the beach is populated with sun loungers and clam shells.
There is also a separate luxury section with eight cabanas and its own beachfront.
Guests do not have to return to the ship or the shopping plaza to get something to drink or eat.
Sprinkled around the beach area are various facilities to entertain adults and younger passengers.
