Princess Cays is a private beach resort located on the island of Eleuthera in the Bahamas. The island itself is 100 miles long but only two miles wide.
As the name indicates, the resort was developed by Princess Cruises and has been used by that line since 1992. The resort is a stop on the itineraries of not only Princess cruise ships but also of ships of affiliated lines such as Cunard. A number of structures have been built on the island and linked by paved walkways. These include information and equipment rental kiosks, shops, several bars, and dining facilities for lunch. The bars and the dining areas have roofs but are open on the sides, affording the passengers views of the beach and the sea. Interestingly, all of the cooking at the resort is done by the ship’s staff. While there are cooking facilities on the island, chefs, food, and supplies have to be tendered in from the ship and tendered back again at the end of the day. Ships calling at Princess Cays typically offer excursions such as deep sea fishing and glass bottom boat cruises. In addition, guests can rent snorkeling equipment, sail boats, floats, sea boards, aqua bikes, paddle wheelers, and kayaks. |
