CRUISE PORT
Mexico's second largest Caribbean cruise port, the cruise port at Costa Maya consists of a single pier extending out into the Caribbean at a right angle to the shore. Near the seaward end of the pier, a branch juts out at a right angle parallel to the shore. Thus, from above, the pier would look like a backwards L.
The pier can handle three large cruise ships. Indeed, it is capable of handling the largest cruise ships now in service. In order to reach waters deep enough for large cruise ships, the pier extends out from the shore a considerable distance. There is a trolley for those passengers who do not want to walk. |
Docked in Costa Maya: Oasis of the Seas (above left); Allure of the Seas (above right); Independence of the Seas (below left) and Freedom of the Seas (below right)
Also seen in Costa Maya: Norwegian Pearl (left) and Radiance of the Seas (above).
